The Cebu City Government is working to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety for the 2025 Sinulog Grand Parade and Ritual Showdown by expediting road patching and clearing operations along the procession routes.

To ensure the safety of devotees and spectators during the 2025 Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Grand Parade and Ritual Showdown, the Cebu City Government’s engineering department and the contractor of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit ( CBRT ) are expediting road patching and clearing operations along the solemn procession and grand parade routes. Norvin Imbong, project manager of the CBRT project under the Department of Transportation (DOTr), said in a phone interview with SunStar Cebu on Tuesday, Jan.

7, 2025, that the contractor has started removing debris and construction materials from the unfinished civil works at the bus stations and the Link-to-Port feature of the CBRT project. Councilor Jerry Guardo, in an interview Tuesday, also said that the Technical Infrastructure Committee (TIC), in coordination with the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), has until next week to finish road patching works on potholes along the grand parade and solemn procession routes. This year’s solemn procession, set on Saturday, Jan. 18, will traverse from the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu along Osmeña Blvd., to Fuente Osmeña Circle going to Gen. Maxilom Ave., to Imus Ave. and M.J. Cuenco Ave., then back to Osmeña Blvd. before going to the Basilica. On Jan. 19, the Sinulog Grand Parade Carousel will continue with its usual route along N. Bacalso Ave. to P. Del Rosario St. to Imus Ave., then to Gen. Maxilom Ave., then the Fuente Osmeña Circle, to Osmeña Blvd., before entering the Cebu City Sports Center. Earlier, Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia said he is expecting a large number of spectators to attend the 2025 Sinulog Grand Parade and Ritual Showdown, surpassing the previous figures when the event was last held at the South Road Properties (SRP) back in 2024 and 2023. Imbong said the contractor has until Wednesday, Jan. 8, to complete clearing operations for the unfinished work on the Link-to-Port feature of the CBRT project, particularly near the Basilica
