MANILA, Philippines: The Bureau of Immigration has advised the public to be wary of travel scams when making arrangements online for a Holy Week vacation.Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said on Monday that scammers use e-travel tactics, like cheap luxurious accommodations and airline tickets, to lure the public.'If the deal is too good to be true, don't,' Tansingco warned as he urged travelers to be cautious because of the proliferation of fake eTravel websites.
He expressed support for the 'Online Bantay Lakbay' initiative of the CICC launched in partnership with the Department of Transportation and Scam Watch Pilipinas.'By raising awareness and promoting vigilance among travelers, we can effectively counter cybercrime and ensure a safer online environment,' Tansingco said.
