Mandaue City continues its annual ban on fireworks sales to ensure public safety and a joyful holiday celebration. City Administrator Jamaal James Calipayan emphasizes the city government's commitment to implementing this policy, aligning with the Bureau of Fire Protection's (BFP) regulation of fireworks and pyrotechnics. While temporary permits are issued for selling pyrotechnics like sparklers in designated areas, firecrackers are strictly prohibited. The BFP conducts inspections to ensure safety guidelines are followed. Calipayan urges residents to use pyrotechnics responsibly in open spaces to prevent fires and accidents in residential areas. This ban, in place for eight years since former President Rodrigo Duterte's administration, has successfully reduced fire-related incidents and injuries during the holidays.
