The Okada Foundation Inc. (OFI), in partnership with Kabisig ng Kalahi (KnK), has expanded its Complementary Nutrition Program to include two new schools: Jose Rizal Elementary School in Pasay City and Tonsuya Integrated School in Malabon City. This expansion has added 133 new beneficiaries to OFI's nutrition program, demonstrating the foundation's dedication to tackling malnutrition and promoting child development .
At Jose Rizal Elementary School, 73 students have joined the program, which was launched with active participation from school faculty and the Parents-Teachers Association. In addition to the nutrition program, KnK also donated storybooks, academic books, notebooks, and healthy recipe books. Tonsuya Integrated School, collaborating with St. James Academy, introduced the program to 60 students aged five to seven. The official launch took place at St. James Academy, where a formal agreement was signed by school administrators, parents, and representatives from both OFI and KnK. OFI President James Lorenzana emphasized the crucial role of proper nutrition in a child's cognitive and physical development, stating, 'Access to adequate nourishment is fundamental to a child's ability to perform academically and develop essential skills.' Lorenzana further explained that through the Complementary Nutrition Program, OFI aims to contribute to the wider objective of enhancing health outcomes and educational performance among Filipino students, particularly those in vulnerable communities.KnK Founder Vicky Wieneke also stressed the significance of collaboration in implementing sustainable nutrition programs. She asserted that ensuring the well-being of children necessitates a 'coordinated effort among educational institutions, private sector partners, and local communities.' The Complementary Nutrition Program is designed to provide nutritious meals and milk to children identified as nutritionally at risk. It also promotes healthy dietary habits and long-term nutritional awareness. The program incorporates a structured monitoring system to evaluate the progress of beneficiaries and guarantee effective implementation.By extending the initiative to Jose Rizal Elementary School and Tonsuya Integrated School, OFI and its partners continue to strengthen their efforts in combating childhood malnutrition and supporting educational development,' Lorenzana concluded
