A son in Tagum City, Philippines, has been arrested for the gruesome murder of his father. The suspect allegedly bludgeoned his victim to death and decapitated him, scattering his internal organs around the crime scene. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the horrific act, with reports suggesting the suspect may be suffering from mental illness.
A parricide charge will be filed against a son who allegedly killed his father by bludgeoning him in Purok 1A-Gapas, Brgy. Madaum, Tagum City, on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The suspect, identified as alias Balono, was arrested at 8:10 a.m. on January 19, 2025, after being accused of attacking his father inside their home.
According to the Tagum City Police’s Investigation and Detective Management Section, police responded to a report and arrived to find the victim's decapitated body, with internal organs spilling out of a punctured stomach. A sack containing the victim's internal organs, along with broken glass pieces, was also discovered. A witness reported hearing commotion around 6:30 a.m. and later saw the suspect exiting the house with a weapon. The suspect reportedly attacked the witness, who fled and sought help from members of the Salaam Police. This led to the suspect's arrest. Items recovered from the crime scene included a bolo, pickaxe, hammer, shovel, and a large tree branch. Further investigation suggests the suspect may have a mental illness. Authorities are still searching for the victim’s head, which the suspect allegedly concealed, as only the brain and ears have been found. The suspect is currently in custody at the Tagum City Police Station.
