MANILA, Philippines -- Most parts of the country will be experiencing scattered and isolated rains within 24 hours due to the effects of at least four weather systems, the state-run weather agency said on Thursday.
With no storm in sight in the coming days, the shear line, intertropical convergence zone and localized thunderstorms will prevail affecting many areas in the archipelago, weather specialist Rhea Torres said.In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the convergence of hot and cold air or shear line is particularly affecting Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.
The ITCZ - an imaginary line where winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere meet - is bringing overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Central Visayas, Palawan, Negros Oriental, Leyte and Southern Leyte.Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan,' will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Ifugao where cloudy skies with rains would be likely, the Pagasa forecaster said.
