San Carlos sets record as lone Visayas city with most SGLG awards

The City of San Carlos, Negros Occidental’s northernmost local government unit , set a record after receiving its eighth Seal of Good Local Governance award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government on Monday. The newly-minted first-class component city is “the only city in the Visayas to achieve this milestone,” Mayor Renato Gustilo said in a statement.

Aside from San Carlos, other awardees for 2024 in Negros Occidental are the cities of Bago, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Sagay, Silay, Sipalay, Talisay and Victorias. The province of Negros Occidental and highly urbanized Bacolod City are also among this year’s SGLG recipients. Among the municipalities, the awardees are EB Magalona, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, and Manapla.
