“It’s either we go out today to show our opposition and voice out our concern, or we allow them to bring possible Covid-19 positive patients in our area and risk our whole community,” the residents said.
RESIDENTS of Barangay San Juan Baño in Arayat, Pampanga took to the streets to air their opposition to make the Arayat National Park located in the midst of their community as a quarantine facility for suspected coronavirus disease patients.
According to a resident who requested anonymity, he and his neighbors went out of their houses despite the threat of Covid-19 to protect their families from a bigger exposure should the local government’s idea push through. However, Mayor Emmanuel “Bon” Alejandrino, in a statement, clarified that Arayat National Park will only serve as facility for residents of the town who came from other places or abroad for proper monitoring.
“The facility is only for monitoring purposes. For example, there is a bonafide resident of Arayat who comes home from abroad, he will be quarantined first in the facility for 14 days just to be sure that he does not have the disease or is a carrier. Should he manifest any symptoms, we can immediately refer him to a proper health institution,” Alejandrino added.
