PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said Monday that the gun attacks on local government officials recently are “not yet alarming.” | BPinlacINQ

“Incidentally siguro , it just so happened na they are in public service,” he also saidAzurin also underscored that most of the attacks on local politicians happened outside of their respective jurisdictions.

The PNP chief had instructed regional directors across the country to conduct an assessment on the security threats hounding government officials within their areas of authority. “That’s why we’re advising them to continue iyong kanilang threat assessment. Kapag sila ay bumiyahe at they need security doon sa pupuntahan nila , they should not hesitate to inform us, so we can provide additional security para nang sa ganoon we ensure their safety doon sa mga binibisita nila ,” Azurin said.

Azurin said he is slated to meet with Romualdez this Monday afternoon to brief him about the crime environment in the country. He maintained that crime rate dropped nationwide from January until late February compared to figures recorded in the same period last year.
