The Pasay City government assured the family of the late Michelle Silvertino that they will tend to the latter’s grave until they decide to have the remains transferred to their province.

Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano spoke to Marlyn, mother of the 33-year-old stranded worker who died while waiting for a bus to Bicol, and extended her sincere condolences and assured her of the city government’s assistance.

Rubiano also told the mother of the stranded worker that a civic organization coordinated with her and agreed to provide Michelle’s children educational assistance. She also told the family of Michelle that they would have to wait between three to five years to have her remains exhumed and brought to Camarines Sur.

Citing Presidential Decree No. 856 , Rubiano said that the sanitation code does not allow exhumation immediately after burial. Under Sec 5 of the law, “permission to disinter the bodies or remains of persons who died of other than dangerous communicable diseases may be granted after such bodies have been buried for a period of three years.”

Rubiano said that the law also provides that the remains, upon exhumation, shall be disinfected and placed in a sealed coffin case or box and properly identified as to the name of the deceased, date and cause of death, and place of internment.
