Davao City is set to construct a P100-million transient home for residents living in danger zones. The five-story building will serve as a temporary shelter for those who cannot afford or secure permanent housing.

A DAVAO City Councilor revealed that they would be constructing a P100-million transient home for Dabawenyos living in danger zones.Councilor Diosdado Angelo Mahipus Jr., chairperson of the Committee on Disaster Risk Management and Ethics, said that this would serve as a temporary home for residents residing in danger zones. He said that the city government would be partnering with a private entity for the construction of the building.

Mahipus explained that unlike relocation sites where residents need to pay for housing, which they would eventually own, the five-story transient building would serve as a temporary housing facility made available for use by those in need. The councilor noted that some people who are awarded housing units tend to leave their homes, often selling them, and eventually return to the areas they originally occupied. Other residents lack the means to pay for housing units.
