The Australian Defence Force has been called in to help with flood rescues across NSW as areas of Sydney, Dubbo and the Riverina have been ordered to evacuate as torrential rain and thunderstorms lash the state.
Dangerous rising floodwaters have also forced the evacuation of the Oura Beach Camping Area near Wagga Wagga in the state's south.
"We are going to see flooding occurring for days, if not weeks in some of the western parts of the state," he said.
