The National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO ) has achieved a significant milestone in its pursuit of justice, arresting 2,703 wanted individuals since the change in leadership on November 23, 2022, through January 31, 2023. Of these arrests, 1,209 were classified as Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), including two high-profile fugitives, one being a 19-year-old linked to a prominent criminal case.
This accomplishment underscores the NCRPO's unwavering dedication to public safety and its commitment to bringing fugitives to justice.NCRPO director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin, attributed this success to the implementation of aggressive police operations and the strict enforcement of local ordinances in Metro Manila. Following his appointment, Aberin prioritized the apprehension of wanted individuals and the creation of a safer environment for residents. Furthermore, the NCRPO reported a near 20 percent decline in index crimes during January 2023, which encompass murder, homicide, rape, physical injuries, robbery, theft, and carnapping. This positive trend demonstrates the effectiveness of the NCRPO's strategies in combating criminal activity and improving public safety. Aberin emphasized that the NCRPO's message is clear: Metro Manila will not serve as a sanctuary for criminals.
