MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer coach Jorge Gallent said import Quincy Miller is playing the role of a substitute as original choice Troy Baxter has yet to secure its playing clearance.
Gallent bared that Baxter failed to secure his playing clearance in time for the Beermen's PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup debut versus Phoenix, forcing them to activate Miller in an interim basis.The former UNLV Runnin' Rebel and Morgan State forward last played for the Johor Southern Tigers in the Major Basketball League in Malaysia.'Exactly what happened to Rain or Shine, we just cannot wait, wait, and wait.
The former Converge and TNT reinforcement though struggled from the field with his 5-of-17 shooting.Miller has played two games for the Beermen in the East Asia Super League home-and-away season 2, where he has paired with EJ Anosike, the team's import in the recent Governors' Cup.'We're just privileged because we're in the EASL, so we're gonna have two imports,' said Gallent. 'Unfortunately, the clearance of Troy did not come as early as we wanted.
