Marikina reports slowest COVID19 spread in Metro Manila
MANILA - Marikina City reported Monday the slowest transmission rate of the novel coronavirus in Metro Manila.
It takes about 8.32 days for COVID-19 cases to double in the city, said Makati Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, citing data from the health department. The cities with the closest transmission rates include San Juan with 7.69 days; Malabon, 7.39; Pasig, 7.25; Las Piñas, 7.16; Caloocan, 7.04; and Pasay, 7, he said.
Teodoro attributed Marina's transmission rate to aggressive contact tracing using a link map of those who came in close contact with persons infected with the pathogen. The city will continue containing the respiratory disease with physical distancing, face masks, and tighter border control and checkpoints, especially in areas near Quezon City, which had the most COVID-19 cases in the country, he said.Report from Adrian Ayalin, ABS-CBN News
