President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has granted executive clemency to former Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog, according to Malacañang. Executive Lucas Bersamin said the decision was based on Mabilog's commitment to good governance and the awards and recognition received by Iloilo City under his leadership. Bersamin stated that the clemency removes penalties or disabilities resulting from an administrative case against Mabilog, though specific details about the case remain undisclosed. Mabilog had previously been charged with graft by the Office of the Ombudsman in 2023 and was included in former President Duterte's drug watch list in 2016.
Malacañang on Monday confirmed that President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has granted executive clemency to former Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog . ''Yes, that's true,'' Executive Lucas Bersamin told Palace reporters when asked for confirmation on the matter.
''However, Malacañang has yet to provide specific details on what administrative case Mabilog was granted executive clemency. To recall, it was in September last year when Mabilog posted bail over the graft charges lodged against him.
