President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has extended the term of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Francisco Marbil by four months, allowing him to continue serving beyond his compulsory retirement age. The memorandum, signed on February 4th, 2025, will take effect on February 7th, Marbil's original retirement date.
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended the term of Philippine National Police chief Rommel Francisco Marbil by four months, Malacañang said Thursday.The President, through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, signed on Feb. 4, 2025 a memorandum extending Marbil's term, which would take effect on Feb. 7, his retirement day.In the memorandum, the President approved the extension of Marbil's government service beyond the compulsory retirement age of 56.
The memorandum was addressed to Interior Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla.Marbil, the 30th PNP chief, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy's Sambisig Class of 1991. He took command of the top police post on April 1, 2024.Marbil previously headed the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership and served as the regional director of Police Regional Office 8 and as the director of the Highway Patrol Group.
