Manila COVID19 cases top 800, city tally shows
The number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases in Manila reached 811 on Thursday, the local government said.Tondo 1 has the most number of active cases of COVID-19 with 131, followed by Sampaloc with 118, and Santa Cruz with 60. Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier placed Sampaloc and the first district of Tondo under hard lockdown in an effort to contain the virus.
The national government has extended the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and other regions for another two weeks until May 15 while placing other areas under a general community quarantine. To date, the Philippines has tallied 10,343 coronavirus infections, of which 685 have died while 1,618 recovered.
