President Duterte has raised the possibility of allowing reclamation projects in Manila Bay to raise revenues for the government's efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ang susunod sa akinIn his public address Monday, the President admitted that the government’s funds for the COVID-19 response would not be enough amid the extension of the Luzon-wide quarantine until the end of April.
Back in February, the President declared that he would not allow reclamation projects initiated by the private companies in Manila Bay due to its environmental impact on the capital. He said he would only allow reclamation activities only if these are connected with government projects. Asked about the President’s position on the Manila bay reclamation, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said no official directive has yet been issued on the matter.
