A local group in Las Piñas, the Las Piñas Movement for Change (LPMFC), is taking a proactive stance against vote buying and selling by forming a 'strike force' to monitor and address election-related crimes.
The Las Piñas Movement for Change (LPMFC) announced on Wednesday their plan to establish a 'strike force team' aimed at combating vote buying and selling in the upcoming elections. This team will consist of 10 individuals from each of Las Piñas' 16 barangays and will collaborate with law enforcement agencies like the police, military, and Comelec officials.
LPMFC Chairman Leonila Mende expressed unwavering support for the Comelec's proposal to implement 'warrantless arrests' for individuals engaging in vote buying and selling. The strike force team will be responsible for identifying locations where these illegal activities occur, apprehending those involved in vote selling, and addressing other election-related crimes. Mende stated that the initiative stemmed from the widespread concern over vote buying in various areas since October 2024, with a particularly active group in Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno. All LPMFC members will undergo immediate training but will not be equipped with weapons, blades, or any potentially harmful items. They will strictly adhere to the Comelec's directive that any individual arrested without a warrant must be promptly taken to the nearest police station for legal proceedings
