A brawl involving coaches and parents broke out during the semifinals of the Las Piñas City local qualifying tournament, hosted by the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC). De La Salle Zobel emerged victorious and will face AMA Basic Education in the finals, which the NBTC recommends be held without spectators.

The National Basketball Training Center ( NBTC ) stated that a fight broke out during the semifinals of the Las Piñas City local qualifying tournament between De La Salle Zobel and Arandia College last Sunday. The NBTC , a league focused on developing aspiring high school basketball players nationwide, confirmed that coaches and parents were seen participating in the brawl.

However, the NBTC said it is granting the local organizers the 'autonomy' to impose possible penalties against those involved. 'It's unfortunate that a fight marred the semifinals of the Las Pinas City local qualifying tournament between De La Salle Zobel and Arandia College, with footage showing parents and coaches engaging in a full-blown melee,' the NBTC said in a statement. 'We respect the autonomy of the local organizers, in this case, the LPM Basketball League, regarding the imposition of just penalties for the players and coaches involved.' De La Salle Zobel ultimately won the game and is scheduled to face AMA Basic Education in the finals round, which the NBTC recommends be held behind closed doors. 'May we also remind our coaches, parents, and supporters that we are stewards of the game and it's our task to teach these young men to be good role models on and off the court,' the NBTC added. 'More than the pursuit for greatness, the NBTC highly values its virtues of developing skills, building character, and raising leaders.'—Bea Micaller/JKC, GMA Integrated New
