Artist Jitka Zgola is bringing a new exhibit to Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design that features several teapots, that despite their unique design, still function.SYDNEY, N.S. — Artist Jitka Zgola is being featured in a new pottery exhibition at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design.
The exhibit, entitled The Teapots are Having a Party and You’re Invited, opens at 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 and features several creative teapots.“I’ve always been fascinated by pottery, especially teapots. They are basically functional utensils, and made to be used. To work well, each must have a well-fitting lid, be easy to tip and produce a pleasant stream when the tea is poured,” said Zgola.“In the process, some tea pots developed such character that they demanded faces.
Cassie MacDonald, craft retail supervisor at Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design, said the show is a true celebration of the maker’s process. “What I love about Jitka's work is the joy she expresses in making each piece into both a visual delight and a functional vessel,” said MacDonald.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
