JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST.SYDNEY, N.S. — A well-known Cape Breton hockey player will soon be able to add another hall of fame honour to his resume.
The 59-year-old MacInnis was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 after he finished a 23-year career in the NHL between the Blues and Calgary Flames organizations. After 11 seasons in Alberta, the Flames traded him to the Blues in 1994 in a deal for Phil Housley and draft picks. He went on to play 10 seasons with the Blues and served as the club's captain in 2002-03 before eventually retiring on Sept. 9, 2005.
"The St. Louis Blues are one of the most storied franchises in the National Hockey League, a member of the expansion class of 1967, so our history is understandably rich with legendary players, coaches and executives," said Chris Zimmerman, Blues president and CEO of business operations in a press release.
