A high-value drug suspect was fatally shot during a buy-bust operation in Cebu City on Thursday. Fredo Juntong, a resident of Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, allegedly opened fire at police officers during the operation.

A high-value individual was killed during a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City , at 2:50 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The slain suspect was identified as Fredo Juntong, a resident of the area. According to the investigation conducted by the Waterfront Police Station 3 of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), police officers were carrying out a buy-bust operation against the suspect.

However, when the suspect was given a small amount of the supposed shabu, he realized that he was dealing with the police. Juntong allegedly shouted at the police and ran towards his house. He then climbed to the third floor of his house and retrieved his firearm, shooting at the pursuing officers. Although he missed, the police immediately engaged Juntong. Despite being outnumbered, Juntong continued to fire his weapon. The intense exchange of fire resulted in Juntong being shot and killed. Two other individuals who were with Juntong were apprehended and are currently in the custody of the Waterfront Police Station. The barangay medical team who responded to the scene confirmed Juntong's death
