Three armed men disguised as law enforcement officers staged a highway robbery in Pilar, Capiz, and carted away P3.1 million from soft drink company employees on Sunday.The suspects, wearing athletic police uniforms, flagged down the vehicle of the victims in Barangay Sta. Fe at around 9:55 a.m. and identifying themselves as agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Claiming they had intelligence reports about illegal drugs inside the victims' vehicle, the robbers drew their weapons and ordered the employees to comply.Police investigators said the victims were traveling from Banate to their warehouse in Balasan, Iloilo, when the fake policemen stopped them in Pilar.Authorities, however, traced the getaway vehicle to Barangay Moroboro, Dingle, Iloilo, on Monday, Jan. 6, at 11:52 a.m.Cpt. Alwyn Salmon, officer-in-charge of the Dingle Municipal Police Station, said that upon checking records from the Land Transportation Office, the getaway vehicle is registered to a resident of Camiri, San Enrique, Iloilo.When police visited the registered owner's address in San Enrique, they learned that the individual also owned a house in Dingle.Upon investigation, the owner revealed that her brother-in-law borrowed the vehicle on the afternoon of Jan. 4, a day before the robbery.On the morning of Jan. 5, the vehicle was discovered missing, leading the owner to assume it had been taken by her brother-in-law without permission.
