THE Department of Health on Friday, February 28, 2025, reported a 64-percent increase in the number of dengue cases this year compared to the same period in 2024. In a statement, the DOH said a total of 52,008 dengue cases have been recorded from January 1 to February 22.'The number is 64-percent higher than the 31,670 cases recorded in the same period last year,' the DOH said.

It, however, pointed out the observed slowdown in the dengue cases in recent weeks, as there were 14,460 cases recorded from January 26 to February 8, compared to the 15,550 cases during the period of January 15 to 25.The health department said the slowdown in cases is not a reason to be complacent against dengue. 'Let us not be complacent on the threat posed by dengue-carrying mosquitoes,' the DOH said.
