The Department of Migrant Workers said it is now looking into a report that some overseas Filipinos workers allegedly became trapped in online scam facilities in Nigeria and other countries in Africa after engaging in third country recruitment in the United Arab Emirates .
Last year, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 124 OFWs also became trapped in cyber scam centers in Laos before they were rescued and repatriated. Under a third country recruitment, OFWs will apply for work in their host country without going through the DMW for contract verification.
