THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday, December 26, 2024, reiterated its warning to aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to avoid dealing with purported recruitment agencies that are asking for immediate payment. In a social media post, the DMW said the public should disregard such recruitment agencies as they are most likely illegal recruiters.

'Avoid those asking for payments through remittance centers or bank transfers in exchange for slots for orientation, interview, or training,' said the DMW. The department said the public must avoid also those offering jobs through social media or email. 'Avoid transactions via email or social media from those falsely claiming to be licensed recruitment agencies,' said the DMW. Instead, the DMW said it would be advisable for the public to always check with the Department if the recruitment agency is licensed or not. 'Verify first with the DMW to avoid getting victimized by an illegal recruiter, human trafficker, or online scammer,' said the DMW. (HDT/SunStar Philippines
