Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) operates under a red alert after a shooting incident involving a bus in Carmen, Davao del Norte.

Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is currently on red alert following a violent incident involving a bus shooting in Carmen, Davao del Norte last Saturday, December 28, 2024. Despite the incident in Carmen, Davao del Norte, the public transport terminal remains in normal operation as the Task Force Davao (TFD), police, and civilian security units are working together to provide security at the crowded bus terminal .

According to DCOTT manager Aisa Usop, the holiday season could be the reason for the increased number of passengers at DCOTT. She added that an estimated 1,500 buses are expected to operate daily, serving 75,000 to 80,000 passengers during Christmas and New Year. For the safety of their passengers, bus companies have been advised not to pick up passengers in unauthorized areas. Ordinance 0192 of Davao City prohibits boarding and disembarking passengers outside of DCOTT. Due to the increasing number of pick-up attempts targeting provincial buses, the 'no pick-up' policy is being enforced as a security measure. Earlier, two suspects shot and killed a passenger aboard a Davao Metro Shuttle before fleeing the scene. Authorities said that the suspects' target was the 54-year-old businessman as no other passengers on the bus were harmed or attacked. Police are currently investigating the incident
