The design for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) station in front of the Capitol building has been revised to avoid obstructing the facade of the historical structure. Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista stated that while a bus station will be constructed there, it will no longer follow the original leaf-like design. This decision follows concerns raised by the Provincial Government regarding the impact of the previous design on the building's heritage.
CONSTRUCTING the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit station in front of the Capitol in uptown Cebu City remains an option but without the physical structure blocking the facade of the building, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025. “Puwede naman na may bus station doon pero wala na ‘yung design ,” Bautista said, referring to the leaf-like design of the bus station .
Preparations for Packages 2 and 3 include securing the lots for road right-of-way and conducting a separate procurement process for contractors for the upcoming civil works, according to Bautista. President’s instructionsDuring the Regional Development Council 7 meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last Jan. 30, Bautista said the President instructed them to proceed with the project’s completion.
