The second package of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project is progressing, with land acquisition underway. While the project moves forward, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is conducting a new feasibility study to address concerns raised by local government units.
The Cebu Bus Rapid Transit ( CBRT ) project is progressing, with the Cebu City Government acquiring land for road widening along F. Vestil Street in Barangay Mambaling. This purchase is part of Package 2 of the project, which will extend from South Road Properties (SRP) to Mambaling via N. Bacalso Avenue, connecting to Package 1, running from the Cebu South Bus Terminal to the Capitol building.
\While the project is moving forward, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is conducting a new feasibility study following concerns raised by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia during a recent Regional Development Council (RDC) 7 meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. President Marcos emphasized the importance of coordination with local government units (LGUs) for effective project implementation. \The DOTr, under its agreement with the World Bank, has provided funding for land purchases through loan proceeds. Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia stated that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) and deed of absolute sale for four parcels of land were signed on February 3rd, totaling P15.610 million for approximately 197 square meters. This acquisition process is ongoing, with the City Council aiming to approve the purchase of remaining properties soon. \The new feasibility study, while expected to incorporate concerns raised by LGUs, will likely not allow for major design or alignment changes as President Marcos prioritizes the project's timely completion
