CONTRIBUTED/BRYANNAH JAMESBATHURST, N.B. — The Cape Breton Eagles dropped a 6-3 decision to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Saturday night.
William Shields, Cam Squires and Angelo Fullerton scored for the Eagles , while Jacob Melanson led the Titan with a hat trick, along with goals from Cameron MacLean, Riley Kidney and Dominik Godin. Eagles netminder Nicolas Ruccia made 38 saves, while Titan counterpart Jan Bednar stopped 34 of 37 shots at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
The Eagles will next hit the ice on Thursday in their long-awaited home opener at Centre 200, when they face Charlottetown Islanders. The following night, Cape Breton will host the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
