New South Wales will seek to increase its emissions reductions under a new plan which Treasurer Matt Kean says will bolster the economy and the state's commitment to combating climate change. 9News
"There is no bigger fight that we as a nation must face, than the fight against climate change," Kean said.The treasurer pointed to the catastrophic impacts of climate-driven natural disasters like the 2019-20 bushfires and recent floods as a reason for pushing for greater emissions reductions.
"The costs of defeat are too great to contemplate. Our action on climate change will determine the prosperity of our children and define the way we are remembered by our grandchildren."NSW Treasurer Matt Kean says increasing the state's emissions reduction target will improve the economy, as well as producing environmental benefits.
