THE election period and gun ban for the Barangay (Village) and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) starts on Monday, Aug. 28, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
'By 12 midnight of August 28, that's the start of the election period and gun ban for the BSKE,' Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said on Sunday.'The Comelec is ready,' he added.Luadiangco said the Philippine National Police will start setting up checkpoints Sunday night.
The Comelec will accept certificates of candidacy from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, from Mondays to Saturdays.Laudiangco said once the CoC is filed, the person is automatically considered a candidate thus all prohibitions during the election period will apply to him or her, especially the ban on premature campaigning.The campaign period will be from Oct. 19 to 28.
