Department of Interior and Local Government regional director Alex Roldan urged the public to report candidates violating the “money ban” to the Commission on Elections for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections slated on October 30, 2023. The Comelec will reimplement the “money ban,” a policy that was halted in the 2013 elections. It is a provision of the draft resolution against vote-buying created by the poll body’s work group and will be put into effect for the BSKE 2023 elections.

Comelec Committee on Kontra-bigay secretary Glinis Tamondong explained that for the period of five days before and on election day, it is prohibited to possess, transport, and carry cash exceeding P500,000 or its equivalent in any foreign currency.
