Blaze prompts reblocking in 2 barangays

MANDAUE City plans to reblock fire-hit Barangays Looc and Opao to improve road access and address challenges posed by narrow streets that hinder firefighters and threaten residents’ safety during emergencies.Mayor Glenn Bercede told reporters on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, about the plan to implement reblocking in the two barangays following a recent fire that left 126 families displaced. The blaze caused an estimated P3.25 million in damages.

Bercede emphasized the importance of creating a more organized and accessible layout in these communities.“We will assign that to the Housing and Urban Development Office for the reblocking. For now, I prioritized the situation of the fire victims.” Bercede said.He added that thorough planning is needed to determine the specific roads to be reblocked. “They need to plan this out to determine the exact roads for reblocking.
