THE Armed Forces of the Philippines paid tribute to the bravery of soldiers from the 32nd Infantry Battalion wounded in an ambush in Basilan, presenting them with the Wounded Personnel Medal on Wednesday, January 23, 2025.AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., during his visit to the Western Mindanao Command , led the awarding ceremony for the wounded personnel, commending their courage and assuring them and their families of the AFP's full support.
Four people, including two soldiers, were killed, and 12 others were injured in a clash with lawless elements supported by rogue members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Sumisip, Basilan, on January 22, 2025.The incident occurred while troops from the Army’s 32nd Infantry Battalion were providing security to United Nations Development Programme personnel conducting a livelihood mission in the area.
