THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas has seized 35 firearms since the nationwide gun ban took effect at the start of the election period on January 12, 2025.Data from the PRO 7 Regional Monitoring Action Center showed that a total of 35 individuals were arrested for carrying unlicensed firearms without the necessary authorization from the Commission on Elections-Central Visayas from January 12 to 20, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, PRO 7 chief, said their campaign against loose firearms across Central Visayas is being intensified as part of efforts to provide tight security for the upcoming National and Local Elections in May 2025.He said the police force under his leadership will remain neutral and nonpartisan, focusing solely on ensuring public safety.'PRO 7 maintains a neutral and nonpartisan stance throughout the electoral process, prioritizing public safety.
