CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Bantay, Ilocos Sur – A driver and his passenger were killed after their truck crashed and turned on its side in Barangay Paltoc, San Emilio, Ilocos Sur on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Police identified the victims as Ibrahim V. Cardenas, 26, driver, and his passenger, Fatima Claire Pis-oy, 25. The truck crashed and overturned. The victims sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.Meanwhile, one person was killed and 14 individuals were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a pickup truck on the national highway in Barangay Dilavo, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte on Thursday, Jan. 16.

Police identified the victim as Noel C. Modesto, head nurse of the Rural Health Unit of the local government unit of Bangui, Ilocos Norte and the driver of the pickup truck. Modesto was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead from serious injuries.Police said the bus was negotiating a sharp curve when the northbound pickup truck allegedly overtook another vehicle and crashed head-on with the bus.

The bus driver lost control of the vehicle, swerved to the right, and stopped on the roadside. He is under police custody.
