The most radical Corolla yet?
Twelve generations of the Toyota Corolla have been made since 1966. Meanwhile, the current model made its world premiere way back in 2018. It’s no spring chicken, for sure, and it’s in a dire need of an all-new model.
It doesn’t help that most of its competitors have been redesigned this decade, further making the car feel, well, old. But, thankfully, Toyota has answered that call. If you remember Toyota’s cryptic teasers from a few days back, it was hinted that several all-new models are in the pipeline. Given how secretive it was, we reckoned the company will announce, or at the very least, preview a few things that can shake up the market. Now, that time has come, and the world’s biggest automaker has finally previewed the next-generation Toyota Corolla. It’s in concept form for now, but given the way it looks, it might be the most radical redesign of the iconic model yet.Variants, prices, specs: Everything you need to know about the all-new Toyota Ativ It’s a concept for now, but the fact that it looks this sleek and rakish suggests that the thirteenth-generation Corolla will be a significant departure from the outgoing model. At the front, we see LEDs dominate its fascia, and there’s not much in the way of an actual grille. But as it’s a concept, the real deal might come with one. That said, the lack of a grille suggests that there might be a pure electric version of the much-loved sedan, alongside hybrid options.As for the rear, there’s the rakish rear windshield that hints at a coupe-like profile. Its broad shoulders are nothing we’ve seen before on anything that wore a Corolla/Corolla Altis badge, showing off a sportier and dynamic flair. There’s the now-trendy LED strip for its tail lights at the back, and there’s also a glimpse of the rear bumper treatment. The current model is now on its eighth year of production. With the preview of the concept, there’s a good chance that we’ll see the production model within two years. But given that the Corolla will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, we’d like to think that Toyota will launch it as soon as it can.
