A piglet born in Tanjay City, Philippines, has stunned locals with its unusual appearance, resembling a human in certain features. The piglet, confirmed to have a rare birth defect called holoprosencephaly, lived only for four hours. Veterinarians suggest possible causes for the defect as genetic mutations or environmental exposure during the mother pig's pregnancy.

A man from Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, Philippines , was left astonished after his pet pig gave birth to a piglet that appeared to possess 'human-like' characteristics. In a report on '24 Oras,' a local news program, AJ Cardinas stated that the piglet stood out from its siblings due to its strikingly human-like nose and ears. 'Siya ang iba sa lahat ng biik. Nagulat ako, mukhang tao ang ilong niya, then 'yung mata niya may eyelashes pa.

Tenga niya parang baby,' he said, which translates to, 'He was different from all the piglets. I was surprised, his nose looked like a human's, and his eyes even had eyelashes. His ears looked like a baby's.'Veterinarian Dr. Aris Miclat explained that the piglet suffered from a congenital birth defect known as holoprosencephaly. This condition results in problems during brain development, where the two hemispheres fail to separate properly and fuse together. This fusion leads to malformed or missing craniofacial structures, which could explain the piglet's unusual appearance. Dr. Miclat suggested that the birth defect could stem from a genetic mutation or exposure to chemicals, pesticides, or other environmental factors during the mother pig's pregnancy. He emphasized that exposure during the piglet's crucial developmental stage in the womb could increase the likelihood of such a teratological defect. 'Almost, always this particular case is fatal,' Dr. Miclat added. Sadly, the piglet only survived for four hours. He also dismissed rumors that the piglet might be the result of interbreeding between a pig and a human, stating that while interspecies breeding is possible in some cases, genetic differences make it impossible for animals and humans to reproduce.
