Philippine Ports Authority general manager Jay Santiago assured the public Monday that the country has not been experiencing congestion in any of its ports.''Sa part ng PPA po, gusto lamang naming i-assure ang sambayanan na wala po tayong currently nae-experience na port congestion sa ating mga pantalan,'' Santiago said during a Palace press briefing.This despite the nearly a thousand container vans, filled with imported rice, which have been sitting in Manila ports for months.
The PPA earlier said there are more than 888 shipping vans, which contain approximately 20 million kilograms of rice in the container yards of Manila ports.Santiago expressed confidence that the ''overstaying containers'' in ports would be lessened by the end of the month.
