Two-time PBA Most Valuable Player James Yap has just signed a fresh one-conference pact with Rain or Shine.
The new deal was announced at Rain or Shine's official social media, which also means the 6-foot-2 Yap will be playing in his 19th season as a pro since emerging as the second overall pick in the 2004 PBA rookie draft.The 41-year-old Yap, known for his moniker 'Big Game James', averaged 10.1 minutes in the 2022-23 Governors' Cup, where he went on to norm 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds, while shooting a decent 27.8 percent from three-point range.
His best scoring output was producing 11 points in Rain or Shine's 116-108 loss to Barangay Ginebra last February in an elimination round match.ROS though saw season-ending title bid fall short after struggling to get the right. The Elasto Painters failed to make the playoffs, finishing just 2-9 overall.Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao has said that Yap, a seven-time PBA champion, still has enough left in his tank to contribute to the team's championship quest for the coming PBA Season 48.
