KOTA KINABALU: A woman was found dead while another sustained injuries following a house fire in the Kuala Penyu district, some 110km from here.

The remains of the victim were found in the upper living room area of the burnt house at Kg Gerowot on Sunday morning.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said they received a call at 6.57am. He said the double-storey semi-concrete house was already engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived at the scene. “Another person was reported to have sustained burns from this incident but we have yet to get details of that victim,” he said in a statement.

Hamsa said the injured victim had been taken to the hospital while the charred remains of the deceased had been handed over to the police for further actions.Article type: free
