Roger Cook, who will be sworn in as the new Premier of Western Australia on Thursday, says he has 'devoted' his life to serving the state.
Roger Cook says he will be at the"front and centre" of the Indigenous Voice to Parliament campaign when he is elected the Premier of Western Australia.
"I'll be front and centre of the Voice campaign in Western Australia," he told reporters during his first press conference as the incoming Premier. The father-of-two won the seat of Kwinana in 2008 before being appointed deputy under former WA Labor leader Eric Ripper.Roger Cook was appointed Deputy Premier and Health Minister in 2017. "The role I played during COVID puts me in a good position to lead the state. Now I'm going forward," he said.The current GST deal was struck by then Premier Mark McGowan and then treasurer Scott Morrison in 2018, allowing WA to receive 70 cents back on the dollar of GST paid."I'll fight tooth and nail for WA's fair share of the GST," Mr Cook told reporters.
