The Victorias City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council conducted its First Quarter Meeting for 2025, presided over by City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez at the second-floor lobby of Victorias City Hall, January 6, 2025. Mayor Benitez led the discussion, focusing on the recent flooding incidents in Victorias City that occurred on December 22 and 27, 2024.
The meeting aimed to identify critical flood-prone areas and develop proactive solutions to mitigate the impact of flooding and prevent future occurrences. Representatives from various organizations, including Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO), Victorias Milling Company (VMC), the Philippine Red Cross, Victorias PNP, Victorias BFP, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion VI, were present, offering valuable insights to address the challenges. City Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, Liga ng mga Barangay President Eric Alcobilla, City Administrator Atty. Lindolf De Castro, City Department Heads, and other members of the DRRM Council also actively participated. Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, along with the City DRRM Council, emphasized the importance of proactive planning and collaboration in safeguarding the safety and well-being of Victorians. They underscored the need for careful assessment of recent flooding events and committed to implementing long-term solutions to mitigate future risks
