The University of the East (UE) celebrated the academic achievements of over 500 graduates during its midyear commencement exercises. Two cum laude graduates, Janela Kim Vasquez and Marvelie Anne Ramos, were recognized for their exceptional performance. The University of the East (UE) celebrated the academic achievements of over 500 graduates during its midyear commencement exercises held on February 6th at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. Two standout graduates, Janela Kim Vasquez from the College of Business Administration-Manila and Marvelie Anne Ramos from the College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design, were awarded cum laude for their exceptional academic performance.
\Vasquez, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, expressed gratitude for the support she received throughout her academic journey, emphasizing that this milestone was just the beginning. Meanwhile, Ramos, a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, shared her optimism for the future, stating that their education had equipped them with the tools to dream big and make a positive impact. \The new graduates represented a diverse range of academic disciplines, including Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Studies and Systems, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Architecture and Design, and the Graduate School. Commencement speaker and UE alumnus Lamberto Tagayuna, a certified public accountant and lawyer, encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, adaptability, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. He highlighted the ever-evolving nature of the world and the importance of staying ahead of the curve through continuous learning and technological advancements. Tagayuna also recognized the significant role graduates play in shaping their own success stories and driving positive change within their communities. \Tagayuna's address emphasized the responsibility graduates carry in fulfilling their own dreams while upholding the hopes of their families and contributing to the nation's future. He urged them to believe in themselves, their support systems, and the purpose that motivates them. The commencement ceremony marked UE's 78-year tradition of producing successful graduates who excel in various fields both domestically and internationally. \Recently, UE's College of Dentistry (CDent) achieved a 93.10% passing percentage in the November to December 2024 Board Licensure Examinations for Dentists (BLED), solidifying its position as a top-performing dental school. The CDent also produced 1st-place and 4th-place examinees in the November 2023 to January 2024 BLED and 4th-place and 10th-place takers in the June 2024 BLED. The UE College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design also demonstrated excellence, producing two topnotchers in the Architect Licensure Exam, placing 1st in January 2024 and 10th in June 2024. Furthermore, the Commission on Higher Education has reaffirmed UE Manila's autonomous status and granted UE Caloocan deregulated status, both effective until September 15, 2027.
