The University of Santo Tomas' Faculty of Arts & Letters is marking its 60th anniversary with a year-long celebration. The festivities will encompass a range of events, including a grand gala night, an exhibit showcasing the Faculty's history, and a musical performance featuring popular bands.

The Faculty of Arts & Letters of the University of Santo Tomas is gearing up to commemorate its 60th Founding Anniversary with a year-long program of special events. The festivities kick off with a Grand Gala Night on March 1, 2025, at the Manila Hotel, themed “A Tradition of Excellence: From Pen to Pixels.” This culminating event will honor the Faculty’s illustrious past while simultaneously embracing the future.

The Faculty of Arts and Letters is dedicated to maintaining and elevating excellence within its academic pursuits, nurturing both students and faculty as they prepare to face the complex challenges of the 21st century. From its humble beginnings as the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters in 1896 to its official establishment as the Faculty of Arts & Letters in 1964, the college boasts a rich history ripe with achievement.“This anniversary presents a unique opportunity for us to reflect on cherished memories and acknowledge the exceptional contributions of our esteemed alumni,” states Atty. Joey Lina, head of the Ways & Means Committee. Among the Faculty’s distinguished alumni are four National Artists: Rolando Tinio, Cirilo Bautista, Bienvenido Lumbera, and Francisco Sionil Jose. Countless others have made indelible marks in various fields, including journalism, literature, advertising, mass media, government, and academe. The year-long celebration will feature a variety of events, such as a Photo and Memorabilia Exhibit showcasing the college’s rich history, and “Artlets in Wonderland: A Journey Through Time, Made Possible by Batch 2025” on February 28, which will feature popular bands. Joel Macanaya, co-chairperson of the milestone event, encourages all graduates to invite fellow alumni and spread the word about their shared heritage as they prepare to celebrate this significant occasion together.
