MANILA, Philippines — An undermanned San Miguel Beermen closed its East Asia Super League season 2 winless after bowing to host Suwon KT Sonicboom, 94-81 on Wednesday in South Korea.

The Beermen played without veteran stars led by eight-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez and Jericho Cruz. Worse, the Beermen showed up with an all-Filipino roster, which the host Korean squad took advantage. The Sonicboom zoomed to a 39-15 lead in the opening quarter and never looked back.

Without Fajardo and Perez, who both joined the Gilas training camp in Calamba, Laguna, the Beermen didn't have the ammunition to keep up with the Sonicboom, who leaned on imports Rayshaun Hammondas and Ismael Romero.Hammonds led Suwon with 19 points, along with four rebounds, three assists, while Romero added 15 points and 15 boards as the host ballclub closed its EASL campaign at 3-3.
