MANILA, Philippines — Hong Kong Eastern started the game with an explosive offensive, maintaining that momentum throughout to secure a dominant victory over San Miguel Beer , 84-74, in their East Asia Super League home-and-away Season 2 match on Wednesday at the Phil Sports Arena in Pasig. Led by imports Cameron Clark and Chris McLaughlin, Eastern quickly established a commanding lead, surging to a 30-11 advantage in the opening quarter.

They continued to build on that lead, extending it to 75-50 on two free throws by Kobey Lam early in the final quarter.However, San Miguel Beer refused to surrender easily. They mounted a fierce comeback, fueled by a combined effort from Don Trollano and June Mar Fajardo, unleashing an 18-0 run that brought them within striking distance at 68-75 heading into the final three minutes. Despite the Beermen's valiant effort, Hong Kong Eastern held strong. McLaughlin, Lam, and Clark delivered crucial baskets down the stretch, ultimately sealing the victory for Eastern and keeping San Miguel winless in five games in the EASL. With this win, Eastern improved their overall record to 3-2, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the EASL while solidifying their dominance over San Miguel with a 3-0 head-to-head record. Clark led Eastern with 25 points and eight rebounds, while McLaughlin added 15 points and 17 boards. Hayden Blankley contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, and Glen Yang also had 11 points and four assists. For San Miguel, Fajardo led the charge with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Trollano also scored 20 points. Import Torren Jones had a relatively quiet game, scoring just six points in 20 minutes of action. Veterans Marcio Lassiter and Chris Ross were absent from the game. Eastern's previous victories against San Miguel in the EASL came in their first meeting in Hong Kong, where they won 71-62, followed by a 99-91 victory in their PBA Commissioner's Cup battle 10 days later. Eastern's playoff hopes now hinge on their final elimination round match against the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots on February 12. Taoyuan holds a strong 3-1 record and a +15.5 point differential through four EASL games this season
